Fox to remake Torchwood and possibly Doctor Who in America

Torchwood I can see working in the US even if the idea leaves me cold, they were aiming for a very American feel with COE. Though the whole fact they’re created by the Queen to defend Britain from alien threat kind of knocks that idea upside its head, unless they include the ‘special’ relationship the US and UK have in that. But really the US has it’s own Torchwood, it’s called Fringe ;) Only worry is it’ll now be in the US with no new UK based eps, no Barrowman and no Gwen ;_;

But Doctor Who Americanised? NO! just…bugger off…NO! He’s like Sherlock Homes, a very national institution and I would just HATE that so very much. Feel childish in my dislike for this but he’s as British as Fish and Chips and has been for generations, don’t ruin that lazy US networks, get your own heroes.

I’ve ranted about this before so I’ll shut up now *looks sheepish*

Well I doodled to cheer myself up and this is what I get for drawing when I’m not particularly in much of a drawing mood because things go so off, LOLs at her bad anatomy and just general BAD.

Oh well just read this about the Doctor and Master in a Interview with Russell Davies

“Why doesn’t the Master kill the Doctor?”
“Because he loves him” replies Russell “Honestly I think he does.”
GUH!!!

And had to draw something with them in it, even if the poor Doctor looks a gangly mess ;) I feel like arguing with my style as I’d love to draw a bit more cartoony than I do but *rage* I always have to go into so much detail. Life on Mars drawing coming up next, though they’re right sods to draw ;(

They did set the 8th Doctors one off 1996 movie in America to try and set a series there but it just didn't work very well at all, can't quite place it but something was missing.

I don't think you guys have fragile minds at all *nudges* My moaning is more why bother remaking something that is already very popular in the US? Always makes me wonder because there are US shows I adore and I have no problem with them being in the US and love them for that fact. I always think it's insulting to Americans to believe you guys won't watch anything because it's in another language (and I say that for Brits too as some of our accents can be classed as foreign LOL) I just wish the Networks would get a clue and stop being lazy and give original shows a chance. I say that for UK networks too as they did remake Law and Order in the UK when the US one is fantastic. Everything is just a remake lately, originality seems to have gone the way of the Dodo.

God I sound like such a grumbly guts D:

*LAUGH* They remade...Law and Order? How completely dumb.

I bet I know why they want to remake it. Other than the money issues. Now, don't take offense to this, because I love Dr. Who but...it's kind of cheesy. You have to admit it! And I know there are a lot of American audiences who only watch things if they have completely high drama and mindless violence or some kind of dark undercurrent. Hence why I think that Torchwood (though not exactly like that) would work a LOT better in the U.S. due to its darker nature.

Ah no offense taken at all, after all Doctor Who is really just a kids show that adults happen to watch so it's completely cheesy and we know it ;) It's that reason I love it so much, it can mix good old fashioned Sci-fi with seriously out there and bonkers moments. I guess to American viewers it's a bit like watching a Cartoon Network show sometimes LOL

Yeah Torchwood has always dealt with more realistic drama and relationships so it could translate well. Plus their last outing pretty much destroyed Torchwwod in wales so a move somewhere else like the US makes sense. I'd miss captain Jack so much though :(

I love Dr. Who's cheese as well. It's delicious. But I love things that have a fantastical edge to them. I mean...I like Star Trek and that's TOTAL CHEESE.

Haha you can never go wrong with a huge helping of milk products in your TV show ;D As cool as the new Trek is the old series is just fantastic, where else could you get Spock and Kirk beating one another up because Spock's going through his time of the month? (okay every 7 years totm XD)

And sorry if my rant came across as Americans being stupid, I'd never think that ever, I know you after all hun. I'd just would love to thump some Network heads ;)

Not a problem at all, you didn't come across that way. Sometimes it just feels like the world is of the opinion that everything we get our hands on goes straight to hell.

OMGOSH I remember that episode!! It was HILARIOUS. I loved it. Granted I still like TNG better, but OMGOSH, the old series had some serious LULZ. *giggle*

Phew, I know I get in full rant mode without thinking so I'm glad I didn't get too bad. America does so many awesome things and it is sad people forget that.

I always find myself in tears from laughing at the things they come up with, the Mirror verse and the Tribbles, unforgettable. TNG ♥ Who can forget Piccard and his love affair with Q *laughs* I adore Data so much though.
