Oh Merlin

Finally saw the end of Merlin season 2. It was a little bit predictable. During the father/son scenes, whenever they were talking about going to see Merlin's mother I was thinking 'oh this can’t go well' and it didn’t. The dragon surviving also wasn't entirely surprising. I had a feeling after last year they weren't going to really upset the status quo, so hence no 'coming out' of Merlin's magic, Uther's still alive and so on. So next year the only difference will be that Merlin can't go to the dragon for advice every episode and Morgana's going to occasionally appear muttering darkly and staring into cauldrons, probably with Morgause as the main villain for the season. They could be a little bit more ambitious and format-changing but overall this episode was mildly disappointing after the much more dramatic episode last week. They need to add some danger and get out of the status quo they have set for themselves.

Though I do think it’s adorable that Merlin and Arthur show their friendship through teasing and that Arthur was really trying so hard to tell Merlin that he saw him as a good friend but Merlin wasn’t quite listening :D The prat ;)
anon meme.

Is Merlin good? I haven't watched it, I love Arthurian legend but from the adverts and stuff it looked kind of cheap and lame so I never bothered giving it a shot. Particuarly since the interpretation looks so vastly different from myth and they probably cut out all the sordid details (yay incest!) to make it kid friendly and so on :x

I think it depends on if you don't mind it being cheesy and tongue in cheek sometimes. It's definitely typical Saturday night Beeb stuff, though the CG gets loads better. But despite that I find it good fun. You can tell the actors are having a great time and Arthur and Merlin's relationship makes me stay watching as it's adorkable. It the characters that sell it for me.

It doesn't stick at all to the legends as Gwen is a serving girl and Morgana is a ward to Uther not Arthur's half sister (sadly). I love the legends a lot but for some reason I don't mind that they're playing fast and loose with them.

Is that the Sam Neil one because that was brill? XD

I'm kind of stuck for new telly to watch too. Being Human was good if you like tales with a vampire, Werewolf and ghost sharing a flat XD

♥ I still have that on VHS I loved it so much XD

True Blood cracks me up, I never know if to take it seriously because Sookies brother is such a ho LOL But I have a huge crush on Lafayette, he's just brilliant.

It is the best production done of the mythos I think |D

Hahah, yeah, it is ridiculous at some points, and I try to ignore the main couple because they feel Sue/Twilight-ish sometimes. Lafayette is amazing ♥

Oh I agree so much, I loved Excalibur, but till then no one had explored Merlin's past and it proved to be awesome.

Yeah it's definitely a show that has better second tier characters, Lafayette and Tara are more interesting to me. For some reason everyone seems to love Eric, I'm not sold on him yet, not as cool a vampire as Spike from buffy in IMHO XD

Don't worry, I only read about the dragon and I don't care for him anyways. I mean, yes, he's The Slash Dragon but it's no big deal ^^

Thanks for letting me off, feel a bit of prat myself for forgetting not everyone would have the chance to watch it yet X_X Ah the slash dragon has done his work and really who will miss him when Morgana herself ships them (well the actress anyways) Link to proof (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEH5wRkDu6Y)
