Oh god I'm such a procrastinator, I should be working on the fanbook art but oh no I had to draw a blumming Star Trek drawing *headsdesk* I have such a crush on McCoy he's a moody grumpy bugger (like me LOL) and I adore him ♥ Wish I could get his likeness down better but hey...>_>

Insert appropriate metaphor XD

Been playing with the rather stupid idea of going back to college. I say stupid as one I'm 33, already have high grade BA/BTEC/A LEVEL's in art and design and I couldn't really start till next September as it's a bit to late right now. I wanted to do it because I've found two courses I’d love to do locally, both arts based but one for Film and the other for Computer games. Both are what I’d kill to break into art wise but I have no idea how to do that as my old Uni never prepared us for looking for work in art and my friends tell me I'm too old now to try and get in at junior level ;_;

I dunno I'm just so tired of being out of work and wasting my degree -_- I just don't know how to even start looking for work in my field, it's a pain.

I think going back to school is a great idea! I know Blair's doing a 3D Game Art course, and they give a fair bit of help with applying for internships/interview skills/etc, and general awareness of market. I think that's a relatively new thing that has been incorporated into the curriculum.

Apply, you've got nothing to lose~

Thanks Jen that makes me feel a bit more hopeful that I should do it and it's not so silly. To get the help and know how in the biz would be awesome because I'd hoped my Illustration course would help with that but they didn't. After it I felt like I was just left to drift not knowing what to do.

Only thing that holding me back waiting till next year is the fees but if I can get a job in the meantime I can save like mad for it ^^ I've done a bit of 3D before in my old job so it would be great to move from the basics ♥

Don't think it's silly at all, and this time around you'll appreciate the course a lot more too I think!

I don't know if this will help, but Blair keeps a art-discussion blog as one of her assignments, good place I think to get an idea of the trends, industry etc. I don't know how relevant the content is to your field of interest, but I think it's a good place to get a sense for the language used/nature of curriculum? Matt is her tutor, you could maybe ask him a few questions!

Yeah, fees are always a problem... at least be glad that you'd be paying UK fees, overseas fees are 3-4 times as much -____-

I think I would as to be honest the University I went to wasn't the best, the tutors seemed more interested in forcing their own styles on us than being creative. One thing I have to do is more original art as I'm all fan art lately.

Thank you so much :) Just had a quick skim and it looks right up my ally and very in depth. I want to do the character side of games so Blairs blog is wonderful, her art still amazes me. I'll try not be shy and ask Matt he seems very helpful XD

They are extortionate. A lot of my friends cousins from China stayed over at her mums so they could attend UK unis because of that.
