1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me!"
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on ...
Questions from Manda, and sorry if I ramble and talk crap, still have my cold kicking my arse ;_; WHY?WHYYYY?
1) How did you find anime/manga?
I think it was watching shows like Ulysses 31, Mysterious Cities of gold, Battle of the Planets, Space Fleet and not to forget some of the game magazines of the time in the late 80’s that really got me into anime because I just fell in love with this big eyed detailed style without really knowing what it was. I was into comics normally thanks to 2000AD, Marvel and Eagle but it wasn’t till Akira was released in 1991 and I found out about a fanzine called Anime UK that I really found out what Anime and manga was and my god I was obsessed. Used to go to Sheffield space centre comic shop all the time to collect their manga fanzines and some of the few anime books that they could import in. Though thank god for the internet as it was so hard and expensive being a fan back then. Downloading for the win ;D
2) Whats your favourite book ever and why? (manga and comics are included XD)
I really don’t think I have just one favourite book because I’ve read so many that I hold dear (read TOOO many). A few of the top of my head that have to be read in the comics category are Scott Pilgrim for just being bizarre and fun and so very indie and cool, Kabuki :Metamorphosis for beautiful art and storytelling, Runaways for having awesome fun superhero children and a dinosaur sidekick, I could go on forever but those are recent ones that have to be checked out. And I guess for normal books it will always be Alice in Wonderland and Watership down, they affected my imagination so much as a child and scared the shit out of me at the same time LOL
3) From the Hetalia perspective, which country would you rather be from if you weren't English?
Japan. Just because I’ve always been fascinated by their culture, it’s so different than our own, one that is a weird mix of the past and future now. I love their mythology and samurai legends and Japan like England in hetalia can see his own creatures of myth and ghost XD
4) Whats your favourite art medium, and why?
Do you mean style or what I use? Being thick here Manda ;_; For style its comics and illustration be they of western or Japanese influence. You can probably tell by my style I kind of mix both because I can never quite tell myself which to settle on. I find manga easier because I can’t draw muscular blokes at all, only skinny ones ;_; I dreamt of drawing Xmen when I was a kid but alas bishy boys are the only things I’m good at LOL
5) Favourite Watchmen character? :D
Oh my god haaard question as I like most of them, have to put my thinking cap on. It’s toss up right now between the guys who see in plain black and white, Rorschach and Ozymandias. I usually see in shades of grey myself so it’s strange for me to gravitate to those two. With Rorschach it’s the fact he’s the one doing the things others fear to do, and sometimes it take a criminal to beat the criminals. That he never backs down from his convictions even in the face of death and that Rorschach is the last outlaw, the rebel who refuses to drop his caped persona, no matter the law. IN other words that maybe the most insane may be the most sane in an insane world.
I know Ozzy is the antagonist and I don’t really agree with what he did in murdering innocents, who would, but at heart who doesn’t want a world at peace and who hasn’t wondered what the cost would be to do that. He's a good man, with good intentions, doing the wrong thing because someone has to do something. He pretty much resonates with Rorschach’s views because he realises it’ll take an extreme act to scare people into doing something for peace themsleves. In another setting, Veidt would have been the hero of the story, but his action negate the good in some ways. Psychologically, he's very interesting. I think maybe i must have a thing for characters that don't let their fears control them who have the guts to do what they must even if it's many shades of fucked up. Also have to sneak Dan in because he’s us, he’s the everyday man with social issues playing the hero that’s just caught in the whirlwind of characters with so much more issues than he has. Man I hope I make sense X_X
