Title: The Road Less Travelled

Notes: It’s been ABSOLUTELY brilliant working with butterflythread. I was so happy when she claimed my art and I love the direction she took my original prompt, it was like the clash of a bad TV program ‘WHEN GAME GEEKS COLIDE’. She’s been so patient with me, especially when I was unable to be around as much as I wanted. Thank you Nellie, you’re awesome, and I hope we get to team up more. I also want to thank platina  and weatherfront  for being amazing cheerleaders when it came to the art. Because it’s based on the game Fallout 3, I went completely comic book style with the new art to reflect that universe more, it was so much fun. The original prompt was for a much darker idea, so I’m glad we went lighter.

Cerise <3 Things didn't go quite according to plan, so I was stressing over them. I know I shouldn't, but I'm a worrier XD BUT THANK YOU, I HAVE NO WORDS BRILL ENOUGH TO SAY HOW HAPPY I AM YOU LIKE IT BUT HAVE A MASSIVE FLAILY HUG INSTEAD *glomps*

I was worried it was all too green, but the games have that sickly colouring so I rolled with it. Hee, the looking at us started with the original pic and Arthur, I thought it would be fun to let people into teh story like that. I'm a little in love with Dogtag, she was so much fun to draw, bless her grumpy self XD

I love the colouring here! Your style is such an inspiration, always.

I noticed that in all of these, one of them is looking directly at the viewer -- eye contact with the viewer is something I don't normally see in fanart and the effect is really novel! Almost a little unsettling, in a way? It's a good effect for Fallout pics, the universe is unsettling. :D

Also really loving the costume designs here! It's difficult for me to keep my designs coherent and consistent. :D

*nods* It was an idea I had because of the game, and the fact you never quite see your characters face. For this I felt it would be fun to have them know they were somehow being watched. Breaking the 4th wall is something I always find a hoot, such as when comic book characters or TV stars suddenly start talking to the audience.

It is hard, there were some moments when I forgot who was wearing what lol

OHMYGOD the picture with Arthur shushing Eames is just really really hot, excuse me I think I need to take off some layers of clothing because it is making me burn from the inside out asklddfj Arthur's pants riding low and Eames' shirt riding up to give us a peek of his tattoo ♥

Mostly I love how you drew their ungelled, windswept hair -- especially Eames', I want to pet him!

The composition is beautiful in the original piece, the textures and color palette look amazing. Also, DOGGIEEEE ♥

How does everything you draw become so TOUCHABLE. *____* The folds of fabric and their glorious beautiful hair and their BODIES and omg that puppy...!!! There isn't a single corner or plane of color thrown away, you use every bit of space to its best advantage and it makes everything so wonderfully cinematic. For god's sake you are brilliant, Lucy.

Oh my god. Oh my god. This is me getting up and doing some kind of flaily victory dance and basically being made ten kinds of amazing drunk happy by your art. I desperately love the one of them behind the dumpster with Arthur's rifle and the dog being UNHAPPY [aww, poor doggie, omg what happened], and the one of Arthur shushing Eames as they're on the backseat. OMG Lucy! SO BEAUTIFUL! I love the BGs, I love the colors, I love the scars and the guns and Eames' fingerless gloves, I love it ALL, ok? The details, they get me every time. The tattoo on Eames' hip, the dogtags around the dog's neck, does the scarf on Arthur's neck migrate to Eames in that second picture? The textures! This is amazing. The original piece was incredible, I love the idea of the triptych and the whole end of the world atmosphere.

I'm obsessed by scarfs, they seem to pop up in my art quite a lot. I'm worst that Ari lol Her name is Dogtag, Eames found her with the tags around her neck and thus she was named.

My FAVOURITE thing about these images is the way that in each one (except the chibis) there is one of the characters looking out at the viewer. It makes it a little uncomfortable...like you're being called out for spying on these intense moments between the two of them. That's really really effective, I think...it works like direct address in writing and makes me sit up and really take notice. It's clever.

I also like the moody colour scheme. So atmospheric.

Wow, these are really some of your best work yet. I love everything about this, interesting scenes and poses and beautiful colors with the greenish tones and yellow highlights and that last chibi pic pretty much killed me that with all it's cuteness. Sparklin!Eames and frowny!Arthur rule my heart and the dog, omg, the dog! You draw animals really well.

Oh wow, hun, thank you so very, very much for your comment. Nellie's the one who gave me such amazing scenes to draw, so it was easy to run with and let rip. The colours were the most difficult because I was worried they would be too similar, but then it is a sickly world :D

Hee, the chibi pic was a complete acident as was having a art block and just doodled anything to kill it. Mt Grumpy and Mr Sparkles were too cute to leave out XD I LOVE drawing animals, I could draw them way before I could ever draw a person (DT's sort of based on my sisters dog)
