Well I have myself a new LCD TV and I can’t say I’m impressed. I had no idea till I got it that if you use Standard digital and not HD it looks like crap. I know it’s not the TV as DVD’s look great, just that digital compresses the picture and unlike my old CRT TV you can really see the imperfections and it’s a tad blurry. So annoyed that shops chart this as the new technology but unless you have the cash to upgrade to HD it’s a downgrade D: As for playing my Xbox 360 on it, well it’s a blurry hell and eats up the textures. I’m hoping buying a HDMI cable will sort that out or the damn thing is going back. I’m probably being too picky but sadly I’m awesome at noticing what’s wrong over what’s right X_X

This cheered me up though.

I’m liking Matt Smith already, he’s so adorkable and his Doctor comes across as a loopy professor XD

Lol yes I have a HD TV and I have the same problem. I have nothing to add, you're absolutely right. German TV stations charge extra for HD too, so as long as you don't have it it's a definite downgrade.

But I can assure you that getting a HDMI cable for your Xbox 360 will totally pay off. Felix got one and it looks really, really amazing. As for my old PS2, HD has almost sucked the fun out of playing for me, since it can't be upgraded and beautiful games like Silent Hill or Final Fantasy suddenly look like ass. D:

It blows massively. Everything looks great apart from the digital and they want something like £40 plus a month for HD. I hate the fact that you can't buy old style CRT's for love of money nowadays ;_; They just want to rip us poor sods off D:

Oh thank goodness, I was in such rage mode when I saw how bad it looked. Couldn't blow stuff up because I couldn't see the target LOL I had forgot it won't play my PS2, I'll have to use my old "14 for that as there is no way i'm never playing Okami again.

I think it very much depends on the TV. I recently bought an LCD TV (a Samsung) and the picture quality is stunning, even without HD (watching blu-rays through the HDMI cable blows my mind), but my parents' LCD is an LG and is nowhere as good.

Mines a Bush and it does work fine with DVD's and soon to be games once I get a HDMI cable (i'm using SCART which I think is probably why it's not amazing right now)It's just SKY that looks really bad to my eyes and I've read up that it is a problem for a lot of people because SKY's normal transmission is compressed and it shows up with LCD's because they show a sharper picture. For some reason Freeview looks fine, so I blame SKY ;)

Ahhh, yeah, it probably is Sky. I only use Freeview, so I can't judge anything else. What a pain, though, that the provider with most of the good channels is the one with the rubbish picture!

Yup, I have an uncanny feeling SKY does it on purpose to make people want to fork out for HD more, they suck. Freeview really needs to grab more cool channels like Living before the switchover, though I guess it's better than the 5 channels we used to have on analog LOL.
