Do you guys think it's worth me making my own web page? I know I'm not fantastic or anything and I'm damn lazy as an artist but I've been thinking it's about time I had somewhere to put my art online. I've so many Death Note, Star Trek and comic book fanart floating around I figured it was about time I put it somewhere other than Deviantart (also it may make me work harder and be less shy about my drawings)
If so does anyone know a good free web host and what would be a good name for a web page? I'm dreadful at these things and so indecisive X_X
Also wanted to do one as people forget that I'm a DN artist so I get left out a lot when it comes to hanging with my fellow fandom artists ;_;

on 2009-09-13 02:00 pm (UTC)I guess you need to know a bit of Japanese, though.
About the name, it depends, is a very personal thing. I named my site Spoiled-k because spoiled-kitten.com was taken and I didn't want a .net or .es extension. Now I think I like Spoiled-k, it reminds me of Special-k XDDD
You can always use a random name as Japanese fansites LOL I find most of them pretty funny, but cool. You know, Monochrome, or Ultra-violet, or Lazy Days.
But yeah, do it. Create a site. I think that most people don't visit an artist's site if they post their stuff on DeviantArt or other site, but it's still cool.

on 2009-09-14 12:12 pm (UTC)*laughs* It does sound a lot like that and it's lucky you have such a cool name to go from. I'm a bit worried that my LJ and DA name sounds too much like 'Psyco' Assassin so need to think of something different and not so scary :D Love the Japanese fansite name suggestion as I do like their totally out there titles, you can never forget 'Sakura sentimental' ;) I'm tempter to call it 'lazy bum' as I'm a very slow artist.
I have so much art I don't post on DA or here so hopefully it'll have things for people to check out. And again thank you I'll get working on it right away XD

on 2009-09-14 02:25 pm (UTC)There's stuff on my site that I don't post anywhere else. Because, well, why would anyone check my site if they can find everything on other sites?

on 2009-09-14 03:56 pm (UTC)Yup you have to have something to make people come back. I was happy to see you have some Gundam Wing art there as I used to be into it way back in 96. It's just so great to see people still like them now XD

on 2009-09-13 07:48 pm (UTC)As an interactive tool though, I think LJ or DA is better. I personally don't follow fanart sites unless they are updated either all the time or on a schedule, e.g. like webcomics. Else I just forget to check it :-/

on 2009-09-13 08:23 pm (UTC)And, erg, hmm... Website names for that kind of thing are so personal; it's hard for me to suggest something. I mean, it should be something that says something about you or your art, right? So...

on 2009-09-14 12:39 pm (UTC)They are and it's hard to pin something down. I used to have one way back in 97 called Kaleidoscope after lyrics in the Beatles song 'Lucy in the sky' because of my first name, but tons of sites have that name now ;_; I think working out the title will take me longer than working on the site, though like my art it has to be colourful, I think :D

on 2009-09-14 09:27 pm (UTC)Working out the title would definitely take me longer than the site, but I suck at titles/names. I always write a fic, go to post, then think, "Oh shit, I need a title. Uh...." And then it takes me another day or two to come up with something.
