Okay stupid question time:

1.       How did Mello know Near had his picture?

It’s been bugging me because it never says so in the manga, just Near showing Rester the photo till the final showdown with the two. Did Mello leave it for Near to find? Gave it to him? Are Whammy’s stupid enough to have files on potential L’s? Did Mello somehow find out people were looking for him and knew what he looked like and worked out Near had the photo? Did Halle tell him? (maybe he only told Rester but I’m guessing) I’d like to know what you guys think, it’s an important point for MN shippers but I’m just wondering how Mello knew Near had it on him.

Oh and another quick question because I can’t remember

Is Gevanni F.B.I or C.I.A? And if you were a collector of bottled ships would you consider that creative or just sad? Why yes that is an important question :P

Have to do some more MN art, feeling like a terrible MN fan for neglecting my ship. Is it just me or are we quite rare? Why do MN fans hide so much? I want to friend them I miss fangirling.

I've always thought that Mello left the photo on purpose for Near to take it. Otherwise, there's no way he'd know Near has it. Near only showed it to Rester, not to Halle.

I think Gevanni is from the FBI, and it seems he's one of the best (^^) I heard something about him being from the elite.

I think Gevanni's hobby is cute, haha.

*Nods* I felt the same, I’d just been thinking about it because of some people saying the MN ship is an impossible one, but to me that photo goes a long way to explain it. Mello isn’t very trusting nor is Near but to have enough trust to give him that photo speaks volumes. It proves there was some connection between them even in the orphanage. It was a good excuse on Mellos part to be able to speak with Near :)

Haha yes it is, just in my country people who do that hobby are seen a very nerdy and quite sad people.

I always made the assumption that Mello left that picture somewhere only Near would find. He obviously wanted the opportunity to talk to Near at least once more (for reasons known only to himself) and needed a good excuse as to why he would be around Near.

And bottled ships is a cool hobby! One of my friends makes bottled ships and its awesome. I love that hobby.

Yeah exactly, I though the same thing. Like I just said to Akane I was wondering about it as I see too many people say Mello hates Near, not enough to leave him a photo apparently :) I was just hoping people felt the same and it wasn’t my MN love showing *grin*

I actually made one when I was a kid, great to make the ship but pain in the bum to get the thing in there. You have to have so much patience. For strange reasons it's got a nerd lable over here *boos*

Oh, my theory is different. I think it´s simply that Mello knows Near pretty well. He left his photos behind at the orphanage, which was a rash move, and he thought as far as to think his rival took them. It was absolutely Near-like to keep the photo as leverage, so Mello could count on that once the chance arose to speak to him. =)

I don´t think it was ever pointed out where Gevanni was. It only came up with Halle because Light reviewed her file, but not for the two men? Near ordered specialists from all sort of places, CIA, FBI, Homeland Security, so Gevanni could have been everywhere. My memory could be fuzzy, but I think that´s how it was.

And I also think bottled ships would be a quirky, but very very cute hobby. (^^)

Oh I like that theory, it's very much like Mello to play with Near too by leaving them to see if he'd fall for that plan. Very dangerous idea but that's Mello for you he can't do anything by halves :)

Yeah it was never said in the manga that's why I got confused. I like him to be FBI as I see them as the cooler enforcers (can't beat MI5 though *so bias*)

I'm having trouble not calling him a nerd but it is very cute. I can picture him showing Near how to do it, their both so creative.........and sekrit nerds.

We just say bottled ships are for nerds in the UK but i think their cool too. To get them in the bottle you have to fold the sails down and hope to god you can get them back up once it's in there.

OMG I never thought about that fact... I do were wondering why Near kept it in his clothes and stuff but how did Mello know..
Well I guess somebody from the SPK told him... since that ugly guy with glasses was a spy for Mello, and Lidner also talks to him a lot I guess...
