X-men: First class fan art- Autumn emotions

Sorry, I'm spamming with art again. Because of my computer problems I've been really bored, I draw a lot when bored.

Isn't it beautiful, Charles?

//Yes, it is.//

You're supposed to be looking at the metal sculpture Charles ;) (I have this thing for moving leaves, don't I?)

Hello Erik.

It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.

Kate Bush is wonderful inspiration ♥  Charles has such a hard face to draw, originally almost scrapped this as I thought it was so awkward and I had messed it up facially, not enough emotion there. Though I need to draw a follow up to this of forgiveness and reconciliations, that will hold more emotions. Had to put their radar dish in there XD

I really want to change my style....

I didn't post when I saw these for some reason, but I've been thinking about them for days. I love the mood here, in both - you've totally captured I think the bittersweet angst that I love about this pairing.

The fact that both pictures take place in fall is a great link and they both have very autumny color pallettes but in a very different way - warm and sweet in year 1 and dark and foreboding in year 2. Perfect.

The look on Charles's face is so interesting and perfect in both. I like that you didn't go the easy "tender loving" route in year 1 but instead Charles looks appraising and somewhat mischievous.

And I love how in year 2, he's not angry or bitter - he's obviously used to his paralysis in a way that Erik isn't; and he no longer has any expectations of Erik, and that hurts more than anger. That's my interpretation, anyway. I love that these two images basically create an entire story. :)

many much <3

I’ve been sat here for ages trying to think up a reply good enough for your amazing comment. The angst does break my heart, but really, it wouldn't be Erik and Charles without it.

I'm so happy that you like that they're set in fall, always a season which means change is coming (in this case winter and in the characters case a darker horizon) I was probably thinking too much on that XD

I wanted Charles to be a bit unsure there as well, Erik’s powers are coming along beautiful so as fond as Charles is there's a bit of apprehension about what that means when they face Shaw (I saved the tender for the road trip pictures, as I feel that's a fresher time for them both, as they're together looking out for the future)

*nods* That is a wonderful interpretation and very close to my own. Charles has had the year of course to get used to his situation, not just the paralysis but in the fact, he has to become the father and teacher to Hank and co. To not just have himself to care about. It's not quite all sunshine for him but he's growing to handle the hurt and bitterness in that year. Erik I feel would be hurt like that, he'd been so encased in his anger and that helmet he probably thought Charles would handle things the same way he did, to hide behind that anger.

THANK YOU *hugs*
