X-men: First class fan art- Autumn emotions

Sorry, I'm spamming with art again. Because of my computer problems I've been really bored, I draw a lot when bored.

Isn't it beautiful, Charles?

//Yes, it is.//

You're supposed to be looking at the metal sculpture Charles ;) (I have this thing for moving leaves, don't I?)

Hello Erik.

It doesn't hurt me.
Do you want to feel how it feels?
Do you want to know that it doesn't hurt me?
Do you want to hear about the deal that I'm making?
You, it's you and me.

Kate Bush is wonderful inspiration ♥  Charles has such a hard face to draw, originally almost scrapped this as I thought it was so awkward and I had messed it up facially, not enough emotion there. Though I need to draw a follow up to this of forgiveness and reconciliations, that will hold more emotions. Had to put their radar dish in there XD

I really want to change my style....

I can't get enough of these brilliant and poignant drawings. I actually had them in my mind all day, because it felt like I was reading chapters of an untold story. And I'm feeling greedy, because I want more! ;)

Your art style has something of the Victorian era and the Pre-Raphaelites. And it really "reads" like stories from that time.

Their expressions and all the emotions they convey...it's a thing of beauty. Erik's fits perfectly with what I expect from him: the guilt and the sorrow. Now Charles'...I've been debating with myself if he would be so forgiving and peaceful when seeing Erik for the first time. After all, Charles risked his life for Erik, offered him a selfless and true friendship, helped him control his power. But at their final moment, over the course of an hour, tops, Charles had to face betrayal and an agonizing death he couldn't help but feel, was punched on the face and shot in the back, which would lead to his paralysis. And to top it all, he was abandoned at the beach by his best friend and surrogate sister... :(

So I don't know. But hopefully, Charles is indeed the better man, much better than must of us would be, anyway. And he'll be able to forgive Erik. ;)

Oops, sorry, I wrote too much! They really got us, didn't they?

Hello! I'm new to this fandom - just saw the film last weekend, and I fell totally in love with this pairing, and your absolutely stunning art perfectly captures why I find Erik & Charles so compelling. Your beautiful art captures the depth of feeling these men share - their love and devotion, guilt and forgiveness, beauty and peace and the tenderness of the bond between them. It's just gorgeous! Autumn is my favourite time of year, so I appreciated the colour choices and the falling leaves. Looking at this beauty brings tears to my eyes - so touching! Beautiful! Thanks so much sharing it with us.

*delayed comment, sry* These are heart-breakingly beautiful. O________O I'm like, tearing up at the moment, and I've looked at this page every day since you posted these. Please give us more! :D

By the way, these drawings have sort of worked their way into something I'm writing; do you mind if I include a scene inspired by the first one? (I will of course credit and link here!)

I like that Kate Bush song

[identity profile] jazzypom.livejournal.com 2011-07-13 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
But Placebo's version makes it all hurty and raw.

Your second piece hits me right where it hurts, more so than the first one. Oy.

You have a good feel for colour, movement and mood. Change whatever you want, but not those three. It's really quite something.

Oh my ... seeing that reminds me once again why I was sooo jealous rei got you as her artist for the inception!bb. This is amazing! That sculpture is lovely, and I love the moving leaves (and everything else and there's so much feeling in these -- guh. I will stare at these a while longer if you don't mind.)

Do you mind if I post a fic that the second one inspired?

I didn't post when I saw these for some reason, but I've been thinking about them for days. I love the mood here, in both - you've totally captured I think the bittersweet angst that I love about this pairing.

The fact that both pictures take place in fall is a great link and they both have very autumny color pallettes but in a very different way - warm and sweet in year 1 and dark and foreboding in year 2. Perfect.

The look on Charles's face is so interesting and perfect in both. I like that you didn't go the easy "tender loving" route in year 1 but instead Charles looks appraising and somewhat mischievous.

And I love how in year 2, he's not angry or bitter - he's obviously used to his paralysis in a way that Erik isn't; and he no longer has any expectations of Erik, and that hurts more than anger. That's my interpretation, anyway. I love that these two images basically create an entire story. :)

many much <3

WOW. I love your art. It's fantastically brilliant, and the use of colour is great as well.

I think your style's wonderful! <3
