loobeeAfter Miss Alex’s post about the relationship between Matt and Mello I’ve had a hard think about how it would be for my Matt. He’s an AU! So obviously I can’t talk much about canon though most aspects of his character I’m trying (and probably failing) to keep close to canon Matt. He was obviously friends with Mello in his universe after all Mello took a shy kid under his wing and let him tag along. From Mello’s view I see him not caring about Matt being so close in grades because as much as Matt loved L and his ideals he had no interest in becoming L, so he was no threat unlike Near. Matt is a really laid back guy so who better to put up with Mello’s volatile nature. In my AU that friendship goes as far as Matt actually following Mello from the orphanage, though I see it being more as a one sided thing on Matt’s part because Mello has his own plans and keeps Matt out of them. Maybe for protection, maybe because he was too encapsulated in his awesome plans at the time.
After the shootout that’s when everything to do with trust and friendship falls apart with my Matt. He’s confused to why his only friend never trusted him with his plan, angry and hurt over what he was dragged into. He spent a long time in hospital in depression over it (as well as having bullet wounds in his legs) and he’s a jumbled, confused mess over the whole affair. He never really gets the chance to come to terms because Roger throws him right in the deep end with Near.
As for that promise I mentioned in the app well I ‘ain’t telling, but he stuck to it :P
Concerning relationships, for that I tend to go with the flow with whoever I’m playing with, though trust is a big issue with my Matt. Mello is going to have to earn it all over again, Matt will listen and follow if it’s worth it but he’s not an idiot and will dig his heals in if he thinks it’s ridiculous. He still wants that friendship he once had with his Mello but he has a lot of hurt to climb over, he may smile and joke but inside he’s messed up over it. Again it may just be a one sided thing on Matt’s part as he’ll try and come to terms with the past through the present Mello’s. depending on how he’s treated he could be their best friend or worst enemy LOL! If he does begin to see Mello as a friend I think maybe their relationship could change once Mello finds out about Matt being Nears right-hand man, which depends on how far the Mello I play with insecurities run. Because I feel Mello would see some sort of betrayal in that even though there was no Mello in Matt’s world at that time. My Matt surprisingly has a lot of respect for Near and views him as L’s true successor as working alongside him he got to know him a little better. Though he also feels a lot of guilt for pretending to be Mello. If Mello finds out about that depending on his view of Near it could explode in his face.
Oh god that probably makes no sense but like I said I’m going to go with the flow on their friendship because he’s not canon. I always saw Mello having trust in canon Matt because when Matt’s clearly not doing his job properly and complains about being bored Mello stays calm and treats him in a more normal manner than the mafia guys. I think Matt is probably the closest thing to a friend Mello has ever had, even if time makes them more associate’s than best friends he has respect for him to actually receive a fellow Wammy’s kid’s help.
Alex if you ever have any questions ask away, and I so want to vampire hunt with Gevanni now, damn you woman XD
Oh ramble, ramble, that’s all I can think of for now. This is why I don’t post to coms as my earth logic fails XD
Also notes on what to do with Matt in Nihil: 1. Get him off his lazy arse and do some posting, meet more people and make an idiot out of himself (he though Pharos was a kid LOL!) as well as meeting those mystery creatures called Mello’s. Check on the Nears, drag his twin out with him for a smoke, meet mini L, ask kairi how she’s going with her plans to find out what’s going on, annoy the Persona and KH cast more (a game boys dream).
2. Actually do some exploring and general taking apart of objects to see how they work in such a spooky town. Check out that cinema and avoid playground.
Ah you know what I mean, actually stop hiatus-ing because I’m a wuss and DO SOMETHING (before Ci-chan smacks me), that includes Gevanni too (misses Sigil) *boots self up bum*

I really want to know what that promise is now XD

I wonder if that'll hurt or help his relationship with AU!Matt at Nihil, that he doesn't know Matt very well and won't be assuming anything about hos cooperativeness or behavior? He'll honestly be getting to know him for the first time, I think- it'll certainly make your Matt react very differently to both of the Mellos available. Exciting! : 3

on 2008-05-11 07:52 pm (UTC)I think it'll be great on both sides as it'll be good fun for them to get to know one another, in Matt's case being wary but still willing to try. It's a neat idea that your Mello wasn't close to him so should be fun for us to see how that's going to go.
Aww thank you ♥ it really means a lot you know because i've had such insecurities about playing him. Getting over those because you guys at Nihil are great and I love you Mello too, he's been trying so hard playing detective ♥

I'm sure that Nihil's players are open and friendly people, and it's clear that we're having fun playing together so- let's keep on doing it!! XD I especially want to meet AU!Matt sometime, since he sounds positively fucking adorable ♥
And THANK YOU for referring to it as 'playing detective!' XD;; That's really what he's doing, just applying himself wholeheartedly to being an impressive and quintessentially good detective... He feels like such a poseur, he's actually a lot more like OUMello than he pretends to be. XD
